What we do for your security

As soon as you type in and access your personal page a secure connection is made between your computer and our servers, based on SSL technology. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a security protocol designed to ensure that the transfer of data between a server and a user, or vice versa, over the Internet, is completely secure. Fineco uses 256-bit SSL encryption certificates.

The system of validating access by using the combination user plus password, plus the sending of an sms to your mobile, has proven to be one of the most reliable at the present time.

What is more, the system features automatic timing-out as an additional security measure. When there has been no activity for a period of XX minutes, you will be logged off your session with Fineco to avoid unauthorized access.

Preventing and detecting computer virus attacks

Computer viruses

These are computer programmes whose aim is to install themselves on a user's computer without his or her knowledge and/or permission. There exist various types of virus, but all of them tend to have in common that they spread, within the computer itself and over the network.

Types of computer attack

Trojans: These enter a personal computer in the guise of a programme, routine or set of instructions neither authorized by, nor known to, the computer user. They transform the computer's behaviour such that what is done on it can be seen from another computer connected on the Network.

Trap doors or back doors: A set of instructions within a programme which gains access without passing through, or leaving a trace in, the programme's security checks. They are usually gateways that the programmers who created the programme leave for their private use.

Worms: This type of attack uses communications networks to cross over from one system to another automatically, using their email address books.

Logic bombs: These are programmes installed within others, whose code is executed when a certain operation is performed or on a specific date, setting off a series of actions over which the user has no control. One example of this type of programme is the "Friday 13th" computer virus, which runs every month when the 13th falls on a Friday.

Bacteria: Programmes whose aim is to reproduce within a system until they have consumed all its resources, and to completely saturate the system's activity.
